Every photographer has their favorite location(s) for photographing portrait sessions, those go-to-spots that they know look awesome, where they know what to expect, and where they’re comfortable in the space. I’m no exception; I have my favorite locations. Even though I’ll frequent some of the same locations, it’s always my goal to create portraits that are unique and special for each person/family that I photograph. Still, nothing is more magical than a place that is significant to the client! It’s a little nerve wrecking walking into a setting blindly; and, I know in advance that I’m going to have to be more creative than usual. But the outcome is so worth the challenges.
Here is a wonderful example of that. The Briscoe family asked me to photograph their session at their parents’ homestead. The property was filled with so much character and beauty. Because of the location they chose, the Briscoe’s now have family portraits that are not only beautiful, but special and exclusive to them. Each time they look at their portraits they’ll feel right at “home”.
