When and how did you meet?

We met on a seasonal job we were both working during the holiday – November 18, 2015. Although it feels like I’ve known her forever.

How long have you been dating?

It made 1 year on August 11,2018.

Who asked who out?

John asked me [Shalonda] out.

 

What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned (or found out) about each other since you began dating?

John: Since we already knew so much about each other when we started dating, we didn’t think it was much more to find out; but… she’s surprisingly open-minded when it comes to trying new food and adventure.

Shalonda: I was surprised yet happy to learn how big-hearted he is; how strongly he understood that God was moving in his life, and his sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

 

What’s your favorite thing about each other?

Shalonda: It’s hard to pick just one, so to mention a few… His consistent willingness to consider my needs. He calls me beautiful like it’s my name & that makes my day. He gets me. How he loves me flaws & all.

John: Her heart, loyalty and Faith. Her heart because what most people don’t know is it’s pure gold and so big. She sincerely wants the best for everyone. Loyalty, because as a friend she was true and the friendship went beyond just having someone to go to for advice but also having her support of my life goals and believe In me.  Her faith in God and also her faith in our strength as a couple.

What is your typical date night?

Most of our time is spent hundreds of miles apart, so a typical date night for us is a movie, long talk over dinner and then dwelling in one another’s presence.

How do you enjoy spending your time together? 

Talking about life goals and plans for the future since it’s with her I plan to build and spend the rest of my life with.

 

What’s been the best day/date of your relationship?

John: August 11, 2017. The day I drove her from New Jersey to South Carolina to meet my parents which is also the day we officially started dating.

Shalonda: August 11,2018. Our 1 year anniversary and the day he proposed.

How and when did he propose?

On our one year dating anniversary, August 11, 2018, he proposed on a dinner cruise. Afterwards, we had dinner at Ruth Chris where they honored our engagement. It was such an amazing night!!
